The more I learn about backpacking the more it becomes clear the thing that moves most people into the sport is freedom. Freedom from busy daily lives, form cluttered houses, and from the sterile concrete world that we have created. In this episode I continue to work on finding and answering all the dumb questions about backpacking in the great outdoors
Today we chat with Chris Hamilton author of Centralfloridahiker.com. Chris has been camping and hiking since he was 7 years old. Once a Boy Scout that achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He has camped everywhere from the Chattooga River in South Carolina to State Parks all across Florida. Together we cover a wide set of topics like: how to choose and buy a backpack, the differences between cheep and high end backpacking tents, and what kind of food works best on the trail.
We even give a few movie recommendations to help inspire you to don your boots and hit the trail.
- National Geographic: Appalachian Trail
- Tell it on the Mountain – Tales from the Pacific Crest Trail
- Mile, Mile & a Half
I hope you learn a lot from the episode and you are inspired to take a hike!!
